Grad BIOGRAD

Biograd na moru is a small town placed 10 km from St Petar and 28 km south of Zadar. This town and marina in the northern Dalmatia is placed on tiny peninsula and mainland with two bays, Bošana in the north and Soline in the south of the town.Thera are two little islands, Planac and StCatherine in front of the town. The most indented part of the Adriatic Coast gives you such possibility for nautical tourism like in a very few destinations in the whole Mediterranean.The very same place is densely pine wooded. You can enjoy schools of scuba diving and sailing there. Biograd is maritime starting position for sailing to Kornati and also for other nautical destinations on the Adriatic. Regattas, schools of sailing and other nautical activities take place in Biograd during the whole year.

   

Grad ZADAR

The town of Zadar (20 km from StPetar, the port in the northern Dalmatia)
This old historical town is placed on the sheltered peninsula with a haven. There are good air, rail and road traffic possibilities to the mainland and the capital of Croatia. Touristic region of Zadar is a part of the heart of Dalmatia and of the most indented part of the Adriatic archipelago. The beauty spots, lots of bays and beaches, historical monuments, archeological finds, various gastronomic offer with delicious local specialities make Zadar and its surrounded area the unique and the most attractive destination in Croatia.
These elements make special "charm" of this place and region: cosy accomodation, beautiful landscape, trips to the countryside, interesting open-air events and well-preserved historical monuments. There are a houndred and one things for tourists to do in Zadar.

   

Grad NIN

Nin is a small town placed 40 km from StPetar. It is an ancient settlement placed on the coast of the south part of the bay of Nin on Ždrijac peninsula, 17 km north of Zadar.
The town was developed on peninsula that was aparted from the mainland with a canal and turned into an island in the 14th century. The peninsula was reconnected with the mainland by bridges.
Agriculture, olive-growing, fruit-growing, wine-growing,fishery and tourism are the most important parts of economy of the town of Nin.
Nin is surrounded with numerous sandy lagoons that are far from the traffic jam and industrial noise. It has its mild microclimate characteristics.

   

National Park KORNATI (12 nm from St Petar)

This National Park is one of the most indented island clusters on the Mediterranean,the unique group of 150 islands, little islands and rocks spreading on the central part of the Adriatic. The blueness of the sea looks even more blue in contrast to the white-grey rocks and stones that prevail on the islands. Its blue sea, lots of sun, many coves, bays and little ports make this Park anavoidable destination for boaters in their wanderings along the Adriatic and the best choice for modern Robinsons.

   

National Park KRKA (60 km from St Petar)

National Park is very wide area with rare natural value. It consists of even several well-preserved ecosystems. It was declared National Park in 1985 and it is the 7th Park in Croatia. The area of 109 square kilometers entirely belongs to the County of Šibenik and Knin. It is surrounded by the float of the Krka river and the down float of the river Čikola between two towns, Knin and Skradin. The Čikola river is 72,5 km long and that makes it the 22nd river lengthwise in Croatia. The source of the Krka river is at the foot of the mountain Dinara, about 3,5 km north-east from Knin, under the 22m high waterfall (Krčić fall, Topoljski fall). It's very noisy there in winter and there isn't any water in summer.
The Krka river is the unique natural and karst phenomenon with its seven waterfalls and 242 m of entire fall.

   

National Park PAKLENICA (50 km from St Petar)

The area between the highest mountain peak of Velebit (Vaganski vrh, 1757 m) and the Adriatic, was declared National Park in 1949. That area differs in many things from the other National Parks in Croatia and it is unique for its two canyons, Velika Paklenica and Mala Paklenica on their way to the sea with numerous falls and cliffs like the most famous Anića kuk.
"Paklenica" is a real challenge for the mountain climbers, hikers and scientists, and it is a popular destination for nature lovers and excursionists. This is an area with rare plants and animals living there, some of them are endemic like the griffon (one kind of eagle) and Velebitska degenija (a beautiful yellow flower). There are other interesting karst phenomena, Manita peć (Frantic stove cave), for example.
Visitors can do different sporting activities there, alpinism, trekking, bird-watching etc. The sea is very close to the mountain so you can enjoy climbing as well as swimming during the same day, just a few hours apart.
